(She/Her)
Born in Sydney in 2001 and raised in Perth, Razanne is of Palestinian and Iraqi heritage, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Communications in Journalism and Public Relations at Curtin University.
She founded the Curtin Palestinian Society in 2021, and is the current President. The Society has become a hub for Palestinian and non-Palestinian youth alike to learn about the Palestinian identity and culture, from Palestinian perspectives.
She has helped run many social and educational events at Curtin University, such as film screenings, craft events, social nights, panels, and tatreez (a 4000-year-old Palestinian embroidery folk-art) workshops, all attracting hundreds of attendees, while working with University management to curate the best experience for students on campus.
As Education Director of Students for Refugees, Razanne has visited many upper socioeconomic schools across Perth, educating schoolchildren about issues affecting refugee communities, including the Palestinian refugee community. She has also worked with community organisations to curate positive programs and experiences for Palestinian communities.
When she isn’t writing articles, editing pieces or reading the news live on radio, she spends her time cross-stitching and teaching the tatreez tradition to community members. She has since completed multiple pieces, held workshops and uses the art to share cultural stories.
