How to bake the perfect galaxy

790   22   11m 39s

What we know about our Universe of galaxies is based on a recipe of energy, matter and time, with a whole heap of assumptions mixed in. Sabine Bellstedt has solved an unexpected problem by fixing one of these assumptions, changing what we know about galaxies and when they formed their stars. Sabine is an early-career researcher at the International Centre of Radio Astronomy Research in Perth, Western Australia. Through large telescopes from all over the world, international collaborations and huge datasets, Sabine is learning about the incredible diversity of galaxies.
